Custom Orthotics Pickering
Orthotics are devices worn in your shoes that provide correction to your feet, helping them to function more efficiently. Poor foot function and alignment may be the cause of various pains such as foot pain, hip pain, knee pain and back pain.
Prescription orthotics may help relieve your pain by realigning and stabilizing the bones in your feet, restoring your natural walking pattern.
Before orthotics are prescribed for you a full static and dynamic gait assessment will be performed to determine whether orthotics are likely to help you. If orthotics are not recommended other suggestions will be made to help you overcome your issues.
It is important that people realize there are many different methods used to fabricate orthotics and there are many different materials that they are made of. We use a semi-weightbearing, 3-dimensional cast technique to ensure a custom fit and our orthotics are of the semi-rigid variety providing both excellent support and comfort. Although the orthotic is made from a custom mold of your foot, it is impossible to know how your body will adapt to foreign devices placed in your footwear. Usually, orthotics require a 2 week break-in period to determine how the orthotics are working for you. Orthotics should NEVER cause consistent or progressive pain. If this is the case, it is important that the situation be assessed and rectified. Usually a small modification is all it takes to correct the situation. Our orthotics are covered by a 6 month warranty period to ensure your orthotics fit you properly and any modifications made in that time period are included in the initial cost of the orthotics.
If you have any further questions about orthotic devices please give our office a call at 905-509-1333 and we will be happy to help you address them.
